JOBLESS IN £100M SKILLS AID
Workers who lose their jobs in the credit crunch were thrown a £100 million lifeline by the Government last night.
Ministers put up the cash to help those facing redundancy to re-train or upgrade their skills.
Victims will be able to decide how to spend the cash on a range of training schemes. Skills Secretary John Denham hopes it will help thousands get off the dole.
He said “People who lose their jobs need support to get back into work including the chance to improve their skills where necessary.”
The support was unveiled as new figures out today are expected to show a sharp rise in unemployment.
